My name is Jacob Arce, known as “PR” (Puerto Rican). Video games have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. My brother always grew my competitive spirit by challenging me and introducing me to different games at a young age. In a family of five, I guess you could say I used games as a coping mechanism through troubling times. Naturally, this interest became a passion which I worked diligently to improve on. With my family and friends support at the age of 16 I began my esports career by competing professionally in Gears of War.
With a promising start, my competitive career was cut short as I had to make a tough decision whether to continue a dream with an unreliable income or sacrificing that dream to help sustain my family financially. I chose to take a step back from my love of esports competitions and find a job which would better suit my situation. Although I was prioritizing my family, that competitive bug never left me or an involvement within esports altogether. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to be approached to become a Team Coach at Ghost Gaming. This opportunity opened doors for me to become more involved within a gaming organization as I learned: management development, recruitment/talent development strategies, and travel logistics. Working alongside a crew from the ground up allowed me to see the players and coworkers succeed through teamwork and effort this industry requires for anyone to survive.
Shortly after I joined Ghost Gaming, I was promoted to Team Manager and within two years in early 2018 I began working as General Co-Manager. This introduced me to a different aspect of the industry such as partnership management, social media management, and corporate finance. In addition, my personal passion of casting games turned into a side gig as I was approached to co-host for Gears Pro League Live. This boosted my recognition in other competitive games such as Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Valorant. Working alongside some of the best casters in the industry such as Goldenboy, Velly, Fallout, Benson, and Maven has improved my craft on camera exponentially, and has kept me hungry for more.
Following the 2020 pandemic which impacted many worldwide, Ghost Gaming made the tough decision to sell the company and thus, my position within their organization became obsolete. Although this closed one door, it opened many others as I was now available to pursue other aspects of the industry I am eager to learn from.
Today, I stand as the Operation Manager for XSET Gaming. This role allows me to be involved within all aspects of an organization; from initial player/creator interests to finance management and beyond. As for self-improvement, I have begun producing my own online tournaments alongside various companies and brands who want to get into esports or simply just have love for them.
Life does not always go as planned but I control what I can and make the best of each opportunity. I pride myself in being a man with integrity, intelligence, and initiative to make things happen; now lets get started..
